Latest Update: - Rant: Grow the F*** Up! - [12/04/10]

The goal of this part of the site was originally to write honest, impartial reviews of various games as I played them, but instead it has turned a place for me to sing the praises of my favourite games, and have long, angsty, vaguely-Yahtzee-esque rants about some of the terrible excretions of the industry that I have had to endure.

I try to assess Games based on the following criteria. Good games should of course score highly in all these categories, but it seems the norm for a 'good' game is around two out of the four!

  • Technical Quality - How well made they are?
    Do they possess portal-like well-polished-ness, or are they the sort of game where they have to release a patch before you can get past one of the levels!

  • Playability - How fun they are to play?
    Even a very short game with a poor storyline can still be fun to play.

  • Replayability - Are you likely to want to play it again?
    Are you really going to unlock all those achievements? Or is it the sort of game you only play with mates and a health supply of alcohol?

  • Immersiveness - How good are the characters, storyline and atmosphere?
    Good stories and characters aree commonly missing from games. Plus bugs and bad design descions can really slap you out of any immersion in the game.


As well as pointing out general pros and cos, I try to offer my opinions on how games could be improved, or comment on some of my favourite features.
